Costs to expect
We don’t do a cookie-cutter project for our authors, but rather, we custom design each author’s project based on their unique goals, genres, word-count, and budget.
So, how much does it cost to self-publish a book?
In order to draft together your plan, you would set up a consultation with Amanda, and she would ask a lot of questions and put together your plan and your team. Consider it would run you anywhere from $5,000 to $12,000 – including everything and everything and everything. The variable in self-publishing costs depends on genre, word-count, goals, and what kind of shape it’s in to start.
Every author has their own book dreams and goals
We customize publishing plans based on your budget and goals.
Self-Publishing Costs to expect
Project management fee
As an author trying to self-publish, you’re going to need to learn the entire process of publishing a book in order to do so. OR take the easier route with less costly mistakes and hire Amanda. Hiring Amanda can vary in price depending on your needs and project scope. To give you a ballpark: we often work with authors for full project management in the range of $2,995 – $3,795.
The higher end is for children’s book production due to the extra nuances such as finding and working with an illustrator. On our initial consultation we will discuss what your project goals are and where you are in the process so I can assess next steps and how to move your project forward.
Editing Costs
Every book has its own heartbeat, which means the editing it needs will be unique to your story. Some manuscripts thrive with big-picture developmental work, others need sentence-level polishing, and some are ready for a final proofread. On our first call, we’ll talk about where you are in your process, what kind of support will help your pages grow, and I’ll share a tailored estimate based on your word count.
I also want you to feel supported by the right people. You’ll be introduced to a couple of editors so you can choose the person who truly gets your voice and your vision. Editing costs can range from $500 to $6,000 depending on how much work your manuscript needs and how many rounds you want to go through.
Cover Design Costs
People really do judge a book by its cover — not out of malice, but because a beautiful cover feels like a doorway. If you want your story to stop someone mid-scroll or make them reach for it on a crowded shelf, investing in a strong, intentional design is essential.
I collaborate with award-winning designers who know how to translate mood, genre, and voice into something instantly captivating. You’ll have options to choose from so you can find the designer whose style feels aligned with your vision. Cover design typically ranges from $350 to $1,000 depending on the designer, how many concepts you want to explore, and the needs of your genre.
Book Formatting Costs
Have you ever opened two books and wondered why the fonts, spacing, or chapter headings feel completely different?
Interior layout is just as intentional as the cover. The right typography, margins, and chapter styling can shape how a reader experiences your words. Together, we’ll talk through what feels right for your audience—whether that means larger, more readable fonts, custom chapter openers, or a layout that mirrors the tone of your writing.
The goal is simple: a book that feels beautiful, thoughtful, and wholly yours. Interior design typically ranges from $450 to $950 depending on the genre and complexity of the project and any custom elements you choose.
